i like to dream.
i like to dream that one day i will become a person who will demand justice from national leaders, a person who will bring institutional change to corrupt countries. i like to dream that i can help bring an end to slavery by using the law to present an irrefutable case to the international court. i like to dream that i will one day see my divided country become united as one nation.
however, my dreams seem to end just as dreams. once i wake up to reality, the pessimistic nature of this world weighs down on me and convinces me that such dreams cannot become true. and if it could, it would never happen in my lifetime and it certainly would not happen through me.
but God looks at me and is saddened by my unbelief in my dreams. God created us to dream and to pursue those dreams.
however, the world tries to tell us that dreams are foolish and discourages us from pursuing them. the moment we begin to believe a dream and possibility, we run into a hard "no". but we need to not let that be the definitive answer for all our dreams and possibilities.
we have to believe that the dream is possible in order to make it possible. we have to be consumed by the dream. the urgency must consume us. we cannot expect great dreams to be born out of our lives if we are not willing to take great risks.
if we give our lives to something and are consumed by the creative process, we will create something far beyond our imagination. we can be part of creating a future that will not happen without us.
however, we need to keep this in mind. we will face failure along the way. but we need to look beyond the immediate and look into the future. believe that with every failure ,we are making the world a better place. be strong and courageous. courage is not measured by how many failures one has, but by the end result. the least courageous people never fail, while the most courageous people fail often.
decide to step into something and believe that it can become reality.
only then will we see our dreams come true.
